About Me

F17-47

Don’t believe the name – “clean”. Life here is anything but.

It’s messy, it’s real, it’s imperfect. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.  (Though come to think of it, sweeping might not be a bad idea…)

I’m Rachel.

Like you, I wear a lot of hats. I’m the mama to two rough-and-tumble growing-up-before-my-eyes kids; I’m a homeschooling parent; I’m a writer. I’m also the owner and founder of LuSa Organics, a body care company that I named after my two kids. We specialize in handcrafted herbal balms, soaps, and baby care. I delight in teaching others how to make their own herbal remedies both through my writing here and for Taproot Magazine, and in-person at my seasonal herbal retreats.

My husband Pete and I – along with our kids Lupine and Sage – live, laugh, and play together on a scruffy farm in rural western Wisconsin.

I started blogging back in 2009.

That means the archives are packed with almost a decade’s worth of reflections on parenting and homeschooling; acceptance and presence; recipes and remedies; craft projects and tutorials. Don’t get lost in there!

The name “clean” is inspired by my small business, LüSa Organics.

We make soap, so “clean” seemed like the perfect name when I started blogging those many years ago. And though this site is not about my business, it is about a clean, simple way of life, so I stuck with it all these years.

Stay in touch.

I love your comments, your snail mail, and your emails. And though I am unable to reply to every single correspondence, I delight in your letters.

Email me! And know that I read and appreciate your words so very much.

Warmly,

Rachel
