This post was meant to happen yesterday, but when hand-in-hand with two grinning kids, knee-deep in icy cold stream water it's hard to pack up and head for home.
We found our way back to the park we took our Mystery Trip to last week for a mini-vacation. I came home feeling more relaxed and mellow than I have in ages. It was magical.
Our trip consisted of…
knitting,
picking (bluegrass-style),
swimming,
fishing,
s'more making,
night-hiking,
and foraging, among other things.
Sage came home with a new (passionate) love of yoga, and Lupine came home with fishing dreams. My heart swelled up watching them find themselves in this context, away from the buzz of town and toys and distractions.
A quick little trip like this could easily become a habit. Easily.
Beautiful trip it looks like! What a wonderful family getaway. The best kind. Relaxing and nature, exploring.
What a wonderful escape!
beautiful rachel,
my heart longs for a trip like that someday – away from all the craziness
Yeah for magical moments! This is what it’s all about.
Trips like that are so necessary, aren’t they?!
Is that Pete playing a mandolin? We’ve got great, big old-time music ambitions – fiddle, banjo, accordion, you name it. So far we can only pluck a bit on the guitar.
What a beautiful place.
Looks absolutely wonderful, and that tree pose looks perfect 🙂
Love it, so beautiful images, makes me want up the mountain too.
just heavenly!
It is, Mary Jo. He bought me a mando before Sage was born and has been playing it himself every since! He also has a bango, guitar, and has been fiddling on my fiddle lately. My music man.

Thanks everyone for the sweet response to our little adventure!

Looks amazing! We are headed out for our first family camping trip with the two girls this weekend. I am so excited and hoping that it goes well.
We went slowly back into camping with the kids. Its a big deal to take it on, but so rewarding once you jump back in.
Have fun!
