If you happen to live somewhere that doesn't become bitterly cold for nearly half of the year it mght be difficult to understand the crazy-making bliss that a day of warm sunshine brings. We run outside, half-dressed to chip at the still frozen earth and make garden plans. Yesterday it was 41 F and I saw a man driving down Main street with the top down, followed by a few motorcycles during the morning. Here in Wisconsin we get a little crazy when spring rolls in.
While the snow is still piled high in our backyard yesterday we could be found in the muddy spots planting seeds (the four-year-old of our crew in summer shoes and wearing no tights). Spring! So sweet. Each day in Spring we hop on our bikes and roll through the neighborhood, looking for "Signs of Spring".
We’ve still got a couple feet of snow up here in Alberta, but it’s supposed to go up to +10C here today! Woo-hoo! I can totally relate to the Spring Madness.
(btw, you’ve got “signs of sring” up there.)
Rachel,
Oh spring. Wonderful spring. We love watching the earth come back to life. Trees, flowers , birds. It’s all wonderful.
Ha, I can relate! After many many years of living in NC and VA, it was quite a shock when we moved to the Chicago burbs last winter. My neighbors comment about how they always see me and the kids outside as soon as the temps get bearable, and it’s because I am SO ready for spring. I’m still in that mindset where I think things should have been blooming a month ago 🙂
Way to go getting seeds in the ground already! Our garden isn’t even fully built yet. Hopefully this weekend we will get that finished up. We will have late blooming veggies this year I think. Love that you get out everyday hunting for spring. We are crazy looking for the signs here too. This time of year is just so exciting!
Yes, I do love to see all of that emotion for spring, and we wish we could have snow, because here is very similar all year.
Ha! Exactly. We have neighbors out jogging in shorts in the 30’s. Too funny.
Looking for spring here too – hard ground, but saw teeny rhubarb buds peeking out!
Abbie,
I think most went in between the boards on or deck, truth be told. Ha! And a few in pots for the kitchen window (stevia and peas). Were building a big raised bed this year so mine is not ready either!
Peace,
Rachel
Alberta! 10+C will feel like bliss. Enjoy~ Rachel
