Each year my kids pick a couple of lessons as a part of their homeschooling. This season Lupine chose ballet (no big surprise there) and Sage chose martial arts. They both also chose riding again at the stable where we rode last year. (It sounds so bourgeois when I type those three lessons together, but whatever. It's what they're into.)

Yesterday was their first day back at the stable. Their instructor (another homeschooling mom who teaches with her own girls by her side) had planned a trail ride for them. And so off they went. Into the autumn woods to ride. Building confidence and skills and friendships all at the same time.

May your weekend be full of adventures of your choosing, too.

Love,

Rachel

There is just NOTHING in the world like a trail ride in autumn. <3 So many fond memories just came flooding back -- thank you.

It must be wonderful to live in a place where there are other homeschooling families around and you can actually raise your children together like this. Here in the Netherlands it is very difficult to even get permission to homeschool, so it would really make a homeschooling familiy the odd ones out.

How wonderful that your children have those opportunities. We homeschool too, but unfortunately we’ve never had the money to put them in anything except the rather lame stuff at the nearby community center. Horseback riding lessons would put my 12 year old in heaven!

Laura, sometimes thinking outside of the box will reward you well. We actually barter for our lessons and dont pay cash at all. Figure out first what you want and then let it in. You never know what might happen!
