It's hard for me to explain how happy this makes me.
We have chickens again!
As some of you know, we've been living in town for the past six years after living in the country since 1995. We are country people, temporially living in town.
And in the country we always had chickens.
Today a friend is moving away and needed a new home for her girls. So early this morning Lupine and I set out to pick up the four we were adopting.
And after an eventful and perilous chase of the Americana up and down our quiet street this morning (a chase that ended with me taking a slapstick flying leap into the neighbors bushes to finally catch her) the four ladies are tucked contentedly into our borrowed coop.
I am so happy.
(Squeal!)
Now all we need is the farm! Universe, I'm ready. Bring on the farm!
Love,
Rachel
Yea!!!!! I have been reading Keeping Chickens all week as I lay in bed sick, and now I am ready to get me some chickens. So glad you have some! Keep up the manifesting and you’ll be there soon! Writing this reminds me that I need to order some Hey You Shoo! today. Can’t wait!
Yay! I understand the feeling. Can’t wait to have chickens again. Congratulations, enjoy those fresh eggs and entertainment.
Rachel, how about this one: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1537-North-Rd-North-Yarmouth-ME-04097/84922761_zpid/ I’ve had my eye on it for awhile, but we’re not quite ready to move, though I think we’ll eventually settle in this area. You should move there and then we could be neighbors!!!
Those Arcanas sure are frisky, aren’t they?
Oh, Amy! Id love you as my neighbor. But Im so in love with this little corner of the world. Say, why dont you meet me here? 🙂
Rachel
So frisky!
I love you happy place so much i am planning to keep coming back here whenever i can! http://www.rubbishservice.co.uk/
we have had chickens for about six months now (for the first time) and i don’t think i would ever want to live without them. we (i) procrastinated for years about getting chickens but they are so easy and so entertaining. i am like an old mother hen to them, checking on them frequently and making them nice pots of tea and warm porridge on cold mornings. the pay off, those beautiful eggs that you know are so full of goodness. i think i am ready for a farm now too with sheep, a cow, ducks….
So happy for you! If all goes according to plan, we will be getting some chickens next spring. I can’t wait!
I really like your coop design. Are those wheels I see? Does it move around the yard easily?
Yeh chickens, how exciting! I finally convinced my husband to get us some more chickens, we always had them in the past but a few years ago an outbreak of bird flu here in europe meant that we had to kill them all, even though they didn’t have the illness.
And I was thinking of a triangle shaped coop on wheels and this morning I found yours via ‘small things’.
Do the chickens stay in the coop all day? Ours were always totally free range but now I do home daycare so I’m not sure I would be ‘allowed’ to have them wondering around the place.
Your LuSa Organics products look amazing! I’m trying so hard to only by locally or french, and am slowly starting to make my own – but soap making scares me still!. But it’s so tempting to by from overseas when I see such wonderful products!
We borrowed the coop from friends so I cant take credit for the design. It is fairly easy to move (one person can do it) and has wheels on one end and a 2×4 arm on the other for leverage. Pretty sweet!
We would love to get chickens. We finally got ourselves a bunny… and he died the first night. 🙁 I was so sad; I cried quite a bit. The kids just accepted it – they’re good that way.
Oh, Karla. Im so sorry. Was it the heat? I had a friend lose a rabbit in this heatwave too.
