On our trip up and down the shore we dug into some learning and playing by the big water (and the big winds!) of Lake Superior.
We don't normally take quick weekend trips like this, so in truth I sometimes felt frustrated by how often I heard myself saying "no" – to requests to stop and explore, visit a museum, or stay one more minute (hour, day, week…).
A week (or heck, even a month) away are more our speed but we all figured it out as we went along.
There was of course plenty of letterboxing to be had between here and there which broke up the drive time beautifully, and a few hikes along the way – through forst and city and along the rocky shore.
Oh, what a weekend. And now, it's nearly time for another. (Another weekend that is. But this one will be far more ordinary.) But the big lake is calling us all back. I don't expect we'll be away for long.
Where is your favorite place for a quick escape?
Love,
Rachel
Aw, I used to live up there and we’d take a trip up to Grand Marais sometimes. I love that area. Thanks for the pics!
You’re so welcome. It is a magical place.
love seeing these shots of the shore – there is such beauty in this world!
We have two places for quick escapes- one is to go home to The Okanagan- which is also on the shores of a lake- we are so lucky it is only a 4 hour drive from Vancouver. Our second place for a quick escape is newly found and only a short 25 minute ferry ride away- Bowen Island!
