Ssssh… don't talk about autumn quite yet.

Summer is still in full-swing.

It's only August.

There are hikes to be had and treasures to be found. Patterns to write and dolls to be create. Berries to forage and adventures to take.

There are still a few campfires waiting to cast their sparks toward the stars and a cold, clear river inviting us to take one more dip before the leaves begin to turn.

And so it was. And so we did.

We dashed off on a late summer holiday to the Northwoods, our vacation of choice in any season. It's close enough, far enough, and familiar enough to go back four generations and then some. And aside from diesel to get us here, it's free. (Thanks Mom and Dad.)

I brought along my sewing machine, a fresh notebook, and lots of creative juice.

They brought boundless energy, a pile of books, and enough mischief to keep them busy for a week.

It's been lovely in every way.

We have a few days left before we land back at home. Care to join us? I'm stealing Pete's phone now and then and sharing daily postcards on Instagram. You can follow me or see the postcards right here.

And with that, I think it's time for another walk in the woods.

Love,

Rachel
