Yeah! Congratulations! Our family has been “waiting.” We lost our dog in the fall too, and there have been days of wanting to head to the shelter and then days of feeling like we’re not there yet. And then a woman said to me recently, “I used to feel that way too until I realized that the dogs are waiting too, but in a different way.” So guess what we’ll be doing very soon? 😉

Yes. I hear you. We weren’t looking yet either, but I had already fallen in love with Charlie when I first met him (when he didn’t need a home and Jasper was still alive). When I heard he was needing a home there was no debate. Suddenly it was time.

It’s amazing how the human heart can flex — I find it incredible that a hole can be filled so perfectly, but you can still definitely feel the edges. <3 Charlie looks like a wonderful addition to the family.

Congrats and kuddos to you for adopting older pets! We have a “one year and up” philosophy in our home. So many amazing mature animals out there with no homes. Wonderful for BOTH of you! xox

I haven’t been here in a while, but I just read a wonderful book to my daughters and it made me think of your family. Have you read this book? It’s perfect for your Lupine. I think you would like it. “Miss Rumphius” by Barbara Cooney

Charlie is beautiful with such soulful eyes. So glad you found each other and that he filled that hole just perfectly.

We love that book! I hadn’t heard of it before Lupine was born but a sweet elderly neighbor (who had been a school teacher for years) bought it for us after she was born. It’s tattered and loved. <3

What a pretty pup! We are in puppy-begging stages from Teagie 🙂 One of these days when she’s a bit older we’ll give in I’m sure

Congratulations — I’m so glad for you. Oh my goodness, your Charlie has such a face! I love his name, too. A few years ago we adopted a 10 year old cat who came to us with the name of Charlie and he is so very dear. My mother makes me laugh when she addresses him by the more formal name of “Charles.”
