She's been waiting for almost year.
Last fall Lupine heard about ballet from a friend who was taking a class. Dresses? Dancing? Fancy shoes? My girl was obsessed. She wanted to take a class – right away. We decided to wait a year. (To me even three and a half seems young for taking a class. I wanted to make sure she really wanted to dance before she hurried off into anything.)
But she didn't stop talking about it. She even made up a song that she sang with gusto, called "I Want to Dance Ballet." A year later the passion hasn't faded a bit.
Yesterday it was finally time.
Amidst a group of strangers plus a couple of friends, Lupine finally got to dance ballet. (And tonight? She's already thinking about next Tuesday.)

how totally precious. i LOVE her outfit. [& her individuality that it expresses!]
also, i love that you made her wait it out – kids need more of that these days. 🙂
Ballet! My girls have been obsessed for awhile but we haven’t had opportunities like that here…but now that we’re MOVING…Is that right in V?
She is SO her own girl. And she fell hard for the other non-pastel girl in the class and had to stand close to her black and royal blue Flashdance style all through class. Pretty sweet.
It is in Viroqua. There are actually two different places to take classes. I heard that this one was more mellow and less strict/fancy, so we chose according to my preference. Let me know if you need more details.
Oh…how wonderful!! She looks so happy…
If you get a chance we’d love the details on the studio where you are going…we’re definitely more on the mellow side of things as well!
Thanks so much!
forgive me when i squeal. i used to teach ballet for years and i would have loved such a eager little student in my class!
i remember my first ballet class. sigh. magic i tell you. if only i had donned an outfit like your lupine…
Squeal away, Nicole! There were several parents there and I think I was one of only three who were squealing (along with my two friends). Cuteness overload.
She was so into her outfit. Yum city. Shes already planning her look for next week. Green, perhaps?
So, so cute. I love her enthusiasm. I started ballet at age two!
Oh my – you weren’t kidding! SOOOO cute I can hardly stand it! Is it ridiculous to confess that this frilly cute factor is one of the reasons I was secretly stoked when our second was a girl! : )
so cute! love the outfit! my little girl (16 mos) loves to dance too! i can’t wait for her to be ready for a class.
Lupine looks gorgeous and so ready to dance, she has the same look my daughter had when she started jazz funk at the start of this year.
Go Lupine go!
Thanks to E. for the inspiration, Jen!
