Hello friends!
Has it really been more than a week since we piled into the car and headed down the road? What a full and delightful week it has been.
I thought that updating here would flow seamlessly into the fabric of our travels but it has not. (This is only the second time I have found a moment for computer work, and I don't expect to be doing much more while I am away. I am borrowing a computer from an old friend right now, so no photos today either. I promise to post pics when I get home.)
Our journey has been lovely so far. Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina. Today is our last driving day before the ocean, and the we can hardly wait. Traveling cross-country and parenting solo it has been smooth but busy beyond my expectations. When we get to the Outer Banks we'll meet up with my mom and I'm looking forward to a little time to sit – and knit – and watch the waves (alone).
But we have been so well cared for along our journey. Old and new friends giving us warm beds, hot showers, fantastic meals, books and field guides, and maps of stops to make along the way… I don't know if I've ever felt this connected outside of Viroqua.
I don't know if and when I'll be back her posting again before I leave, but know that I'll have a lot to share when I roll back into Wisconsin in the next few weeks.
Sending love from the road,
Rachel
